Evan Russell

Evan Russell was born and grew up in Toronto, Ontario.
In 2014, he graduated from OCAD University with a bachelors of fine art and a major in drawing
and painting. From a very young age Evan was obsessed with capturing (the often hidden)
beauty of the urban and domestic environment. His mediums of choice are watercolour and
acrylic paint.
Evan employs the alla prima technique, whereby colour is applied directly to the canvas without
sketching or underpainting. Thus it is no surprise that he is inspired by French Impressionist
artists such as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, and Édouard Manet.
Most of his portfolio consists of commissioned paintings in private collections, especially “house
portrait” memorandums for homeowners across the Greater Toronto area and internationally.
