Necessity is the mother of invention. I created these drawings because I was looking for reference images of diverse body sizes for my work. Unsurprisingly, I was having a hard time finding positive media representations of larger bodies, so I decided I would make some of my own. I wanted to create images of large, glamorous, seductive, and powerful women, so I chose to resize the bodies of iconic celebrities. Resizing celebrities is a thought experiment. It is an opportunity to imagine a media landscape full of positive representations of diverse body sizes and a standard of beauty that includes everybody.
