Patricia Whittingham

Patricia Whittingham has worked and exhibited as a painter for ten years. After
graduating from the Ontario College of Art in 1994 she has made Toronto her home
base. Her body of work is based on abstract expression. Themes in her work include,
nature, landscape, memory and identity. As an artist she sees her work as a continuum
and will often return to ideas that remain central to her work. She sees art as
transformative for both the artist and the viewer. There are elements of minimalism in
her approach to composition, as well as use of gesture and line. She sees the power of
art in its ability to generate a shared experience. She has been a resident of the
lakeshore area in south Etobicoke for over ten years and enjoys the diversity of an area
that is both urban and close to the lake. Patricia is active in the Toronto art community
and has been a participating artist in Artbomb Toronto and The Salon of Inclusiveness
at the Black Cat Gallery. She received the Jurors Favourite Award at the Dig It Abstract
Painting Exhibition, The Artist Table 2015. Recent events include being a participating
artist in SeeMe Soho, digital exhibition 2019.
