Skye Cheung

Skye is a Canadian Asian artist and educator. The aim of her work is for meditative and spiritual
purposes. The abstract forms in the skies express the essence of where reality and the imaginary
meet. It is her hope that looking at these images will evoke emotions when faced with the sublime in
nature.
These encaustic works are influenced by the Japanese Ukiyo-e movement, Canadian Landscape
painting and Song Dynasty Chinese landscape painting. They represent the dynamic power between
the sky and the sea; the dichotomy between life and rebirth.
